Stereoview card (3D) - 7" x 3.5" (Holmes format)
Rainbow Falls is positioned to catch a little early Fall dappled light. The trail allows for a low angle of perspective then up to the bridge for a bird's eye view.
The Watkins Glen Gorge contains several trails and bridges that wind their way from serene to sublime natural views. Watkins Glen State Park can be found nestled in the Finger Lakes on the southern end of Seneca Lake. It's just over a mile as the crow flies but the zig zagging trail and changes of elevation result in a much longer hike if one wishes to get the complete experience. With such extraordinary splendor, the Gorge was the subject of some of the earliest stereo photographs made in the Americas. I am pleased to carry on that tradition of capturing this American treasure through the 19th century magic of Stereoscopy.
Card can be viewed in a traditional stereoscope, as well as with a modern viewer such as the Loreo Lite. Every care and consideration has been given in producing these cards. Shortcuts are common and can be difficult to detect, but it's clear that these works have been taken to the next level.
Experts may debate over the fine points of card production but four out of five of us agree... These Cards Rock! It takes an artist, a craftsman and a stubborn scientist to develop work like this and I'm pleased to create a legacy one image at a time.
